Is cannabis oil legal in Karnataka?
Recreational cannabis is illegal in Karnataka, as it is across India, under the NDPS Act, 1985. What is legal is an AYUSH-licensed Vijaya medicine, made from cannabis leaf and regulated under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, taken on the advice of a registered medical practitioner. Why AYUSH licensing matters
Calmosis holds AYUSH licence MPI25E/23/1117, issued by the AYUSH Department, Madhya Pradesh, and we are a DPIIT-recognised startup. A licensed product comes with a defined formulation, labelled contents and a doctor's oversight. An unlabelled oil passed around a group chat comes with none of that.
Vijaya is not for everyone. It is not suitable for anyone under 18, pregnant or breastfeeding women, or people with heart conditions or diabetes. Do not drive after use, which is worth remembering before an evening drive home on the ORR. Possible side effects include drowsiness, dry mouth and appetite changes.
